A Rhodes with Midi...

Inspired by Steven Kruyswijk's website and the fact that I found a very good deal on a balanced Midi masterkeyboard (I paid 90 Euro's) I started working on adding Midi to my Rhodes 88 (a very fine Mark 1).

A Studiologic TMK 88 keyboard.

The inside.

The sensor circuit board, nice and slim.

The Rhodes without keys...

...and the keys on the ground, all 88 of them.

Trying to find the right position of the sensors...

Antoher try, this on was OK.

Testing with some keys...

Testing with some more keys...

This is how the electronics are hidden beneath the keys.

I added a microswitch for the sustain mechanism. At this time it is almost finished. I do have to experiment some more with the sensors, and the black keys don't seem to trigger as good as the white ones, but you don't notice it when layering sounds. And I have to find a 'clean' way to put my MIDI-out socket somewhere without damaging the Rhodes...
